What do I want to say about fences?
We have decided to include a visual piece in the film which is a dedication to what we think about fences or what we have learnt about fences. I want to make sure that what I say contributes to the meaning of the film and doesn’t distract the audience from the ideas that we have already been focusing on. So far we have been focusing on these ideas….
-The affects of putting up fences in society
-The risk of breaking down fences
-The positives of breaking down fences
-The visual of a wall in an open space
We are planning to also get some footage this weekend surrounding this ideas…
-The way a lack of fencing brings together a community (living in the country) vs living in the city
-The metaphorical fences that are put in place for international students including migration laws and cultural differences
Out of these ideas I wanted to think about the idea that best relates to me. Since my family has recently bought a property in the country I feel like I have been enlightened by a sense of fast space. I’m thinking that I will probably relate the most to what our guest will be saying about living in the city vs the country in relation to fences and so I think I would want to say something that relates to that concept.
This is what I’m thinking of saying…
When my dog went chasing a kangaroo our neighbour walked with us to find him. He looked like a silver dot, paddocks away, stuck in the fence of a distant land.
